Product Guide – Wooden Products

Please read our Product Guide below for important information regarding payments, lead times, installation, warranties, product care, and terms of supply.

Payment Terms

  • Payment terms are strictly as set out in Payment Breakdown on the Quotation.
  • Changes in payment terms are a breach of the agreement.
  • KPJ does not accept cash at its premises.
  • All monies are to be deposited into our nominated bank account.
  • Bank charges for cash payments will be added to the customer’s account.
  • No cheques accepted.
  • Interest at 2% monthly for overdue accounts.
  • Due to fraud, we can no longer accept POP slips as final proof of payment. All payments must reflect in our account prior to manufacturing or delivery.
  • Banking details have been excluded from our general correspondence as a safeguard. Emails and documents can be altered or hacked.
  • Should you request banking details via email, please note you do this at your own risk.

K Parker Joinery does not accept responsibility for any funds paid into incorrect bank accounts. It remains the sole responsibility of the client to ensure the correct banking details are used.

Price Validity

Glass / Hardware / Ironmongery

  • Prices are subject to Rand Dollar exchange fluctuations and may change on order.
  • Prices can only be held if KPJ is in possession of all the necessary information at the time of order.
  • Delays in measuring or receiving final production requirements can lead to price adjustments.
  • Glass prices are limited to notice periods from PG Building Glass.
  • Glazing is according to National Building Regulations unless otherwise specified on the quote.
  • Glazing is not included unless specified in the body of the quote.
  • Hardware gear is supplied with all sliding and folding products.
  • Ironmongery for folding and sliding products are standard colours and do not reference the alloy or metal.
  • Windows are supplied with a gold or silver wedge handle and silver friction hinges.
  • Sliding sash windows are supplied with gold or silver lifts and pulley wheels.
  • Sliding sash windows are weighted for glass as per quote or 4mm float glass on a rope pulley system.
  • Ironmongery including hinges, locks, flush bolts, handles, or other door mechanisms are NOT supplied unless separately indicated on the quote or offer.

Cancellation of Orders and Refunds

Under no circumstances will a credit of the buyer’s account or refund be considered for special order goods.

The seller will only consider a credit of the buyer’s account or refund under the following circumstances:

  • If the buyer cancels the order before the goods are scheduled for delivery.
  • If the seller accidentally delivers incorrect goods to the buyer.
  • If the buyer informs the seller within 24 hours of delivery that the goods are no longer required.
  • Refunds will only be made to the original payment method.
  • Refunds may take 3–5 business days to reflect depending on bank processing times.

Lead Times

  • 15–20 working days from deposit and signed-off job cards.
  • Stock items on the website are generally 3–5 working days depending on stock levels.
  • All instructions relating to orders must be done via email prior to manufacturing.
  • Instructions received via other communication methods are not binding.
  • Amendments to original orders are treated as urgent but may extend lead times.
  • Lead times for each item are subject to final measured sizes and signed job cards.
  • Final sizes must be confirmed via email.
  • Additional treatments or alterations may extend lead times.

Delivery and Storage

  • Products must be checked on delivery.
  • Any discrepancies or damage must be reported within 24 hours via email.
  • Products must be stored correctly.
  • Doors must be stored flat off the floor in a dry, ventilated area.
  • Other products must be stored vertically to avoid twisting or warping.
  • Storage of completed goods at KPJ is limited to 7 working days.
  • R350 per day storage fees may apply after notification.
  • Custom-made goods not collected within one calendar month may be disassembled and payments forfeited.

Before Installation

Proper Care and Maintenance

To get the most out of your new product and the benefits of its warranty, certain steps need to be taken before, during, and after installation.

Storage

  • Products must be kept clean and dry in a ventilated area.
  • Products should be stacked on soft supports.
  • Extrusion tape and securing fasteners should remain in place until installation is complete.

Installation

  • Only competent carpenters and installers should be used.
  • K Parker Joinery cannot be held responsible for failures caused by incorrect installation.
  • Additional items required for site conditions will be charged separately.

Installation Notes

  • K Parker Joinery may use subcontractors at its discretion.
  • Products supplied by K Parker Joinery are not intended for DIY projects.
  • Openings must be properly prepared before installation teams arrive.
  • Horizontal tolerance over 3m is 6mm.
  • Vertical tolerance over 2.4m is 6mm.
  • Protective covers must not be removed until final clean-up.
  • K Parker Joinery will not paint or treat timber products unless quoted.

Glass Care

  • Do not use abrasive cleaning solutions.
  • Do not use high-pressure washers or garden hoses.
  • Do not use razor blades or abrasive products.
  • Do not clean glass in direct sunlight.
  • Use a soft lint-free cloth for cleaning.

High Performance Glass

Low E Glass

  • Do not use abrasive cleaners.
  • Do not use ammonia-based products.
  • Do not use scrapers or blades.

Double Glazing

  • Avoid high-pressure hoses.
  • Avoid strong detergents.
  • Avoid abrasive cleaners.

Timber Care

  • All six surfaces must be treated.
  • Replace missing fasteners immediately.
  • Do not allow cement or render to remain on timber surfaces.
  • Dark paints may void warranties.
  • High gloss finishes require professional preparation.

Aluminium

Available Finishes

Powder Coating and Anodised finishes are available.

  • Keep protective tapes on until construction is complete.
  • Remove mortar or concrete immediately.
  • Do not use harsh alkaline or acidic cleaners.
  • Clean aluminium every three months.

Sliding Doors / Sliding Folding

Tracks

  • Keep tracks free of debris.
  • Vacuum tracks weekly.
  • Apply a small amount of Vaseline to tracks for lubrication.

Hardware

  • Keep locks lubricated with silicone spray.

Hinged Doors

  • Consult paint manufacturers before applying treatments.
  • Projection hinges require regular adjustment.
  • Keep locks and hinges lubricated.

uPVC

  • Avoid abrasive cleaners.
  • Use warm water and mild detergent.
  • Lubricate fittings once or twice a year.

Sunflex

  • Do not use harsh detergents on glass.
  • Clean seals and lubricate annually.
  • Check fittings regularly for wear.

Blockhouse

  • Do not use solvents or abrasive cloths.
  • Clean tracks weekly.
  • Lubricate top track wheels every six months.

Warranty

  • Warranty is only valid after final payment is received.
  • Warranty is limited to faulty material and workmanship.
  • Repair or replacement is at KPJ’s discretion.
  • Products must be maintained correctly for warranty validity.
  • Obvious abuse or misuse voids the warranty.

Third Party Warranties

  • Timber: 5 Years
  • uPVC: 10 Years
  • Sunflex: 2 Years workmanship / 5 Years material
  • Blockhouse: 5 Years
  • Glass: 10 Years
  • Ironmongery: 1 Year

Special Terms

Liability

  • K Parker Joinery will not be liable for indirect or consequential damages.
  • Force majeure events may affect delivery times.
  • Timber colour differences are not considered defects.
  • Changes requested will be priced separately.

Design + Size + Positioning

  • Designs and sizes will be manufactured as per quote unless otherwise agreed.
  • Frame positioning and FFL must be confirmed in writing via email.
  • Structural design responsibility lies with the specifier.

Scope of Work

  • The client must ensure all information is provided prior to manufacture.
  • KPJ will only manufacture and install according to the quote.
  • E&OE applies to all items on the quote.
